Cleaning your oven can be a pain, time consuming and smelly task. It’s so easy to buy a brand-new oven that is shiny and sparkling clean until life happens and it becomes the area in the kitchen that seems to be forgotten. Without regular cleaning, it can be a disaster inside – with those grime, dirt and blackened bits that keeps building up. Your brand-new oven is now a dirty looking one.
There are self-cleaning ovens out there and if you happen to own one, just run the auto-clean settings on a regular basis to keep your oven clean. However, this setting uses extremely high temperature that sometimes results to an even dirtier oven glass, makes the kitchen so hot and smelly. It also takes longer time to finish. That smoke alarm will surely become your annoying friend.
Commercial oven cleaner can be very effective too but the fumes from this cleaner is so strong that it can stuck to your nose for hours and give you headaches.
There is a better solution. It is natural, home made and safe to use.
And here are the ingredients:
1 cup of baking soda
½ cup of water
Vinegar as a finishing cleaner
YES! That’s right, three simple ingredients that will make a big difference.
- Mix and stir baking soda and water in a clean container.
- Apply the paste in your oven.
- Let it sit for 20 minutes while you do other tasks
- Wipe clean with microfiber cloth.
- Spray with vinegar to neutralize the remaining paste in the oven, then wipe dry with microfiber cloth or paper towel. This will bring out that shiny look.
Use a spatula to scrape that stuck on bits.
You can increase the number of cups as long as you follow the 2 is to 1 ratio (baking soda to water ratio).
Easy peasy lemon squeezy!
The great thing with baking soda is that it also absorbs odors as oppose to a commercial air freshener that will only masks it. It’s also cheap, won’t damage your oven surface and has great scouring power without harmful chemicals.
So why not give it a try and see for yourself. Have fun cleaning!
